GOD PROVIDES - A Traveling Art Exhibition

The liturgical art for this public installation was born out of a collaborative effort between Denise, the Pastoral Associate at Christ the King, Tom Bowling, the President of American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD), Marsha Korth, a self employed Seamstress, and myself. The installation grew over eight weeks. Every week, we added a word around the sanctuary that corresponded to the tangram installed behind the altar. One large tangram was rearranged each week to showcase a new range of shapes that related to the weekly lesson from the creation season…abundantly…a mission…growth…for our needs…grace…contentment…generously…joy

Tangrams are a classic Chinese geometric puzzle consisting of a square that is split into seven distinct pieces: two small triangles, one medium triangle, two large triangles, a square, and a parallelogram. These pieces can be rearranged in countless ways to form various shapes. This art form highlights the connection between objects and their environment, simplifying ideas to their core components. When assembled, the pieces evoke a range of silhouettes, embodying many numerical and geometric concepts. The tangrams pictured are slightly different from the traditional tangrams because they include color which presented a challenge when visualizing the silhouette.
